UMYF - United Methodist Youth Fellowship

Each week, the youth (grades 6-12) of Pleasant Green Church meet on Sunday nights from 5:30-7:30pm for UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship).

We fellowship, eat snacks, play games, pray, serve others, study the bible, and learn about God’s love and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

In addition to Sunday nights and participating in the overall life of the church, we offer the following opportunities for youth:

  • Sunday School – meets at 10am (Senior High downstairs in the Youth Room, Junior High upstairs in Room 222)
  • Youth Bible Study - meets at 7:30pm on Wednesday nights
  • Serving at Urban Ministries in downtown Durham the 4th Sunday of every month
  • Serving at the Murdoch Center in Butner every other month
  • Special events like Pilgrimage, the Halloween Carnival, Yam Jam, 30 Hour Famine, etc.

PG UMYF Covenant

We, the UMYF of Pleasant Green, covenant to be in Christian community with one another.  We promise to provide a place for everyone to come as they are.

Asking God to be present with us, we seek to respect one another, listen to one another, be patient with one another, forgive one another, and be kind to one another.

Each week, we gather together to praise God, pray, study scripture, learn about the Way of Jesus, and help others.

Knowing that God comes to us in thunderous shouts and quiet whispers, we will seek to be a space of both loud fellowship and peaceful reflection.

Because we understand we are in a holy space, in all things, we will exert self-control.  In particular, we will not use electronic devices during our time together (including cell phones & mp3 players).  In doing so, we hope to create space where we might hear God’s voice and call in our lives.
