Who We Are: God's People at Pleasant Green

One word unique and basic to United Methodism is "connectionalism". That means simply that all United Methodist leaders and congregations are connected by certain loyalties and commitments that call us to live in covenantal accountability and empower us to be in ministry around the world. We are, by design, a self-govering people dedicated to a life of Christian purpose-a life of participation and personal responsibility, of generosity, sacrifice and self-restraint, responding to the call of Jesus Christ. Today we speak many languages and live in many lands, yet all responding to the call of Christian faith and practice.

As God's people at Pleasant Green, we are a covenant community, concerned about God's children everywhere. In life's clouds of doubt and division, we see the sunlight of God's purpose that brings healing, hope and harmony. We love worship, study of God's word, music, church suppers and a sense of community, a sense of belonging.

We welcome all people into our church family, including those who are searching for answers to life's tough questions too, because we know what it's like to feel alone and unsure....to need a welcoming place with open hearts, open minds, open doors. We roll up our sleeves and say, "Let's get to work," as we answer the call of making disciples of Jesus Christ. We  seek to live the promise we made the day we joined the Pleasant Green United Methodist Church....the promise of our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service.

"And how are they to call on one in whom they have not belived?

And how are they to belive in one whom they have never heard?

And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him?"

                                                                    ROMANS 10:14b, NRSV
