The Pleasant Green UMC Afterschool is in its 19th year. The goal of the Pleasant Green UMC Afterschool / Summer Camp Program is to provide a safe and healthy environment, and to cultivate in each child values of love, learning, sharing, caring for others, friendship, and self-reliance. We strive to provide special home-like care in a loving Christian community.

2009 Summer Camp
June 22 - August 7
7:30 am - 5:45 pm
Summer Camp, providing all-day care for children, takes trips to the Eno River State Park, Museum of Life & Science, Sportsplex, Duke Homestead, The Scrap Exchange, and the bowling alley. Other activities include "Bible Adventures" with Duke Divinity School Interns, time with Tom Carr (school counselor at Cameron Park), "Kids Growing Greener" with nutritionist Eilene Bisgrove, "Outdoor Play", and "Mini Reading Groups" with elementary school teachers working with us for the summer.
This summer we presented our 17th musical "Holy Moses." For the last 17 years, the highlight of each Summer Camp has been the musical production, involving approximately 50 children. Cindy Clark, public school chorus teacher, has been our musical director for the past 16 years. This wonderful week of learning a Bible story through song is provided at no extra cost to campers and free-of-charge to the church and community children. Another activity the children especially enjoy is entertaining and serving a lunch to their grandparents and the “Pleasant Greeners,” our church senior citizen group. These events play a significant role in bringing the Summer Camp Program, our church, and the community together.
