Rev. Brian Wingo
Pastor
Brian was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His family moved many times over the course of his childhood, finally settling in Woodland, NC (Northampton County) in 1976. After graduating from high school, Brian continued his studies at Methodist College (now University) in Fayetteville, NC. After earning a BA in Religion, Brian enrolled at Duke Divinity School completing his M.Div. in 1988.
A lifelong Methodist, Brian has served the church in various capacities before entering the ministry in January of 1984. Since then, he has served the Granville Circuit, the Brookland/Brooksdale Charge, Calvary UMC-Durham, Trinity UMC (Minister of Program), Carr UMC and Pleasant Green UMC. In addition to his work as pastor, Brian has had the opportunity to have served on several Volunteer-In-Mission trips to the Gulf Coast, the Caribbean and Central America.
Brian met his wife, Diane (who serves as a Hospice Nurse with Duke Hospice), in the “old” Pleasant Green parsonage, where they were introduced by their mutual friends, Larry and Julia Webb-Bowden. Between them, Brian and Diane have three adult daughters.
When not engaged in the ministry of Pleasant Green, Brian enjoys gardening, woodworking.
Jason Gaskin
Minister of Christian Education & Youth
Jason Gaskin was born in Glendale, Arizona and grew up in Niceville, Florida.
He has worked on staff at First United Methodist Church of Niceville, Shores United Methodist Church, & Orange Beach United Methodist Church.
Jason attended Flagler College, in St. Augustine where he received a degree in Psychology with a minor emphasis in youth ministry. During his time at Flagler Jason was a Youth Minister at Shores United Methodist. Throughout his senior year Jason felt a deeper calling towards pastoral ministry.
In the last couple of years Jason completed his Masters degree in Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary’s Orlando satellite campus.
Jason loves ministry and loves people. He loves seeing people connect with God and others in community. He has a passion for communicating God’s unrentless love for all. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his wonderful girlfriend Kiah, write and play music, read a variety of books, and occasionaly surf channels!!
Katelyn Scott
Duke Ministerial Intern
Katelyn was born and raised in Connecticut. She graduated from Wheaton College (IL) in 2007 where she majored in Biblical and Theological Studies, and then worked in the missions department of a suburban church. Katelyn was then a fellow from 2008-2009 at the Trinity Forum Academy in Maryland before starting a Master of Divinity program at Duke in Fall 2009. Katelyn is married to Trevor Scott, a native of Washington, who she fell in love with over a program in the Holy Lands. In her free time, Katelyn enjoys singing gospel music, visiting new places, and drinking loose leaf tea.
Ian Strickland
Duke Ministerial Intern
Ian was born and raised in Ohio. He grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, called Mentor, where he lived with his family of five. Ian attended Ohio University where he received his undergraduate degree in Finance, and has just finished his first year at Duke Divinity School. He is currently seeking ordination within the United Methodist Church as an Elder of the West Ohio Conference, and is working as the Ministerial Intern at Pleasant Green UMC for the summer. After many hours of staring at books, and sitting in classrooms, Ian is more than ready to dive head first into a summer of service in the local church. Ian lives in Durham, NC with his beautiful wife.
